What to do in Salzburg?
During your stay in the Salzburg region, you will have a wide choice of activities. In this article, we list a few of them for you! To start with, we recommend you to visit the city of Salzburg itself when you are in the area. You can choose to go along with a city tour and let yourself be informed by a guide. In the Salzburg region, you will also find the largest ice cave in the world. This ice cave has a total length of no less than 40 kilometres and can be found in Werfen. The cave was discovered in 1870 by Anton van Posselt-Czorich. When Anton discovered the cave, he only went in for about 200 metres, he did not immediately discover the entire cave. In 1913 they started to explore the cave further and only after the First World War in 1920 they started to explore the whole cave. Currently, it is easy to go to the ice cave by lift. You can take a guided tour through the ice cave but beware, a reasonable condition is not necessary. In total, there are about 1400 steps to climb.
In Werfen you will also find the fairytale castle Hohenwerfen, do you want to experience the Middle Ages? Then a visit to this castle is highly recommended! Various activities are organised at the castle. You can learn more about the history of the castle during a tour through the castle.
