Culinary journey through Istria

The cuisine is a mix of continental and Mediterranean dishes. Istria is best known for its fantastic olive oil, which is even among the best in the world. In total, there are more than one and a half million olive trees in the whole province and a bottle of olive oil is more than worth it!

Are you on holiday in Istria during the winter period? Then this is the place to be to look for the world famous truffles. In the area of Buzet and Motovun you can find the most white and black truffles, because it is located in a woody area. And to complete the recipe, the region is also known for its great homemade pasta. Experience the authenticity and taste the most delicious pasta in one of the famous konobas.

The weather in Istria

Istria has a sea climate with many hours of sunshine, which makes it an ideal holiday destination. In general, it is slightly cooler here than in the southern Dalmatia, due to the different winds that bring refreshment from the sea. Rainfall makes the peninsula one of the greenest places in Croatia.

During the summer months, however, there is plenty of sunshine and you can enjoy the great outdoors with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees. In combination with high humidity, it can feel quite warm. On the coast, there is often a nice breeze, which makes it tolerable.
