What to do in Rovinj?

The highlight of the town is the monument St. Euphemia Church. You can see the church quite easily because it towers above the town. The church is dedicated to a girl called “Saint Euphemia”. The story behind this dedication is very touching. At the age of fifteen, Euphemia was arrested because she refused to give up Christianity. She was eventually killed by lions, but not devoured. Because this is quite exceptional, Euphemia was canonised and a statue of her was placed at the top of the 61-metre tower. A steep staircase allows you to admire the statue and the beautiful view of the town of Rovinj.

Apart from visiting the beautiful church and strolling through the old streets, there are many more nice trips that you can make in Rovinj. From a boat trip to the uninhabited island of Red (Crveni Otok), a day trip to Pula or diving to the wreck of the Baron Gautsch.

The weather in Rovinj

Istria has a sea climate with many hours of sunshine, which makes it an ideal holiday destination. In general, it is slightly cooler here than in the southern Dalmatia, due to the different winds that bring refreshment from the sea. Rainfall makes the peninsula one of the greenest places in Croatia. From April to November, the temperatures are on average between 15 and 24 °C. In these months, it is ideal to visit the town of Rovinj.
