What to do in Sestrunj?

If you want to spend your holiday in peace and quiet, the island of Sestrunj is ideal. The island consists mainly of untouched nature and can only be reached by boat. A ferry goes to the island from Zadar twice a day. Of course, it is also possible to travel to the island by boat yourself. If you are staying on the island and have your own boat, a trip to the Kornati National Park is highly recommended. The Kornati National Park consists of 140 islands, where you can enjoy different bays and beaches. The water on the Kornati islands is crystal blue and ideal for snorkelling. During your stay on Sestrunj, it is also recommended to go back to the mainland and visit the old centre of Zadar. If you go by ferry, you would arrive directly in Zadar. In the old centre of Zadar, you can find a lot of history of the rich past of the region. But there are also many nice little streets in the city where you can find all kinds of shops. In Zadar, you can also relax on a terrace and enjoy the Croatian cuisine.

The weather in Sestrunj

Zadar has a Mediterranean climate, with warm and dry summers and mild winters. In the summer, the Velebit Mountains keep the rain out. However, rain can fall regularly in autumn, winter and spring. In the winter, strong winds can also occur, which can rage across the country at speeds of up to 180 km.
