Holiday in Split-Dalmatië.

Discover this part of Croatie, Split-Dalmatia

Located in the south-west of Croatia is the Split-Dalmatia region. The most important city in this region is Split. Split is also called the “white city” and has over 200,000 inhabitants, making it the second largest city in Croatia. Split is not the only place of interest in this region. The city of Trogir is located 25 kilometres north of Split. Because of its rich history, Trogir is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The most beautiful beaches in Split-Dalmatia are located 60 kilometres south of Split in the seaside resort Makarska Riviera. Some of the beaches here are kilometres long and consist of white pebbles. The combination of beach and mountains makes the area unique – there are few places where beach and mountains come so close together. Some describe it as a ‘dramatic and magical landscape’. Had enough of the mainland? Plenty of choice. From Split, car ferries and catamarans depart to various islands. The largest islands are Hvar, Brač, Solta and Vis.

What to do in Split-Dalmatia?

Split, the main city of Split-Dalmatia, is a city where you can easily spend several days. There is a lot to do in the city and the atmosphere is nice. Split has a beautiful old town centre with a pleasant boulevard. The cosy feeling within the old centre is characterised by the many squares and narrow streets. When you walk down the main street, you will be enchanted by the beautiful marble stones. For those who do not mind walking, climbing the Marjan Hill is a fun activity. The reward is at the top: a beautiful view. But of course, this beautiful region offers more than just Split. There are plenty of nice villages/towns to visit. A well-known one is Primošten, which is a peninsula located in the sea about 60 kilometres from Split. The previously mentioned island of Brač is also highly recommended by Poolincluded. Brač is the third largest island in the Adriatic and is ideal for hiking. The highest point on the Adriatic, Mount Vidova gora, is also located on this island. From this mountain, you have a great view, and you can also see the island of Hvar. The most famous beach on Brač is Zlatni Rat, a pebble beach with a v-shape.

Game of Thrones fans do not necessarily have to travel to Dubrovnik to admire something from the series. In the village of Klis, you will find the Klis Fortress. Several scenes were filmed here.
