Culinary journey through Istria

The cuisine is a mix of continental and Mediterranean dishes. Istria is best known for its fantastic olive oil and is even among the best in the world. In total there are more than one and a half million olive trees throughout the province and a bottle of olive oil is more than worth it!

The weather in Istria

Istria has a maritime climate with many hours of sunshine, making it an ideal holiday destination. In general, it is slightly cooler here than in southern Dalmatia, due to the different winds that bring refreshment from the sea. Due to rainfall, the peninsula is one of the greenest places in Croatia.

During the summer months, however, there is plenty of sun and you can enjoy a wonderful outdoor life with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees. In combination with high humidity, it can feel quite warm. On the coast there is often a nice breeze, which makes it good to endure.
