Take a walk on the 2 kilometres old city wall as soon as it opens so that you can enjoy the beautiful walk in relative peace. Stradun is the old centre of Dubrovnik. You can enter through the Pile gate and immediately find yourself on the main street of the old town, the Stradun. This is a three hundred metre long impressive street with a large number of important Dubrovnik sights, such as the Franciscan monastery, the Onofrio fountain, the Dubrovnik cathedral and the Sponza palace. The Stradun has the most beautiful side streets that lead you up the steep steps to the narrow, quiet and atmospheric streets. All are full of plants and flowers with cosy terraces and nice cafes.

The imposing Fort Lovrijenac, located by the sea, is definitely worth visiting for its impressive view of the city wall and the old town. For the best view you can take the cable car up. If you also want to experience some culture, a visit to the medieval Benedictine monastery is highly recommended. Island hopping is possible from Dubrovnik and you can visit three islands in one day: Koločep, Lopud and Šipan. A day trip to the wine paradise Pelješac should not be missed, nor a visit to Korčula, the birthplace of Marco Polo.

From the old port of Dubrovnik, you can book many excursions. One of the best activities is a combined kayaking and snorkelling trip along the coast. Fanatical divers can also dive from June onwards in the beautiful caves of Cape Petka and the 60-metre-long Taranto shipwreck! The hinterland offers beautiful excursions to various old towns and waterfalls and is an excellent base for visiting unspoilt Bosnia and Montenegro. Montenegro has one of the most beautiful bays in the world: Kotor. And neighbouring Bosnia can be visited with a day trip or hire car. Here you will find the old town of Mostar, with its pleasant streets and one of the nicest towns in Bosnia. You can end the day with a splash in the Kravica waterfalls.
