What to do in South Bohemia?
What is there to do during your stay in a holiday home in South Bohemia? South Bohemia is located in the south of the Czech Republic near the border of Germany and Austria. A visit to the city of Český Krumlov is highly recommended. This city has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1992. The city has a rich history and a unique layout, the centre of the city lies on a kind of island because it is largely surrounded by the Vltava. Next to that you have the Český Krumlov castle, you can walk through the whole castle and take a tour. During your tour through the castle you will get to know a lot about the rich history of Český Krumlov.
In South Bohemia, you also have the largest lake in the Czech Republic, Lake Lipno. In this area, you can undertake many activities, such as water sports like windsurfing, canoeing, sailing or boating. You can also sit around the lake and take a refreshing dip. A bit further away from the lake, you can also go mountain biking or follow one of the many cycling routes.

Next to the Lipno Lake there is also the Boomkroonpad (crown path tree), which is located close to the Lipno Lake. The Boomkroonpad is a path which forms itself between the trees, with as highlight the watchtower of no less than 40 metres high. From the lookout tower you have a wonderful view and if you are lucky and the weather is fine, you can even see the Alps.
The Czech Republic is teeming with castles, such as the fairytale castle Hluboká in South Bohemia. This castle is completely white and has all kinds of beautiful turrets, which makes it seem like you’re walking into a fairytale castle. The castle used to belong to the rich Schwarzenberg family, during your visit you can also get a guided tour through the castle. This is really recommended because the castle has a very luxurious interior that you don’t want to miss. The gardens around the castle are also very beautiful and tightly landscaped. A visit to this fairy-tale castle is therefore highly recommended!
The weather in South Bohemia
South Bohemia has a temperate continental climate. Because it is temperate, you will have, for example, warm summers but no extreme heat. The average temperature in the summer is 23 degrees. The winters are cold and you also have several ski resorts in South Bohemia.
