Poolincluded Tips

What to do in Bayern?

In the south of Germany, you will find the beautiful region of Bayern. This region offers much more than just lederhosen and beer steins. Nature is beautiful and you can experience this during a walk in the Partnachklamm. This hiking trail is located in a gorge of over 700 metres long. In some places, the cliffs reach a height of 80 metres. If you are in the neighbourhood of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, be sure to visit this walking route. Tip from us: do bring warm clothes, it is often cold and wet! If you want to discover this region, try the Seilbahn Zugspitze! With this lift you will be at the highest point in Germany in no time. It traverses almost 2000 metres in 8 minutes, which is a world record. The view is overwhelming.

Looking for beautiful buildings to photograph? Then take a look at Neuschwanstein Castle, this castle has been the great inspiration for Walt Disney for his own castle in the theme park. This castle was built by order of King Louis II, who was also a fan of fairy tales himself! The castle stands on a 925 metre high rock and is located almost on the Austrian border. This beautiful castle is really worth a picture!

Okay, okay… I wrote at the beginning that Bayern is not only known for its lederhosen and beer mugs, but… there is the Oktoberfest! This two-week event in Munich takes place in September, (huh?). Everyone has heard of this world-famous beer festival, right? So if you are a beer lover or just like to party, this is definitely worth it! Besides the beer tents, there is also a wine tent and a fun fair, something for everyone, right? Outside the Oktoberfest, there is also plenty to do in this cosy city.

Culinary journey through Bayern

The choice is enormous in Bayern! You can enjoy delicious regional specialties, just sit down in a café or choose a gourmet restaurant. Bayern cuisine leaves nothing to be desired. By the way, Bayerns cuisine is also world-famous: pretzel, white sausage, Obatzda, etc. Enjoy Bayern conviviality with a local beer or a glass of Franconian wine. Do you really want to splurge? Then pay a visit to Überfart, a three-star restaurant in Rottach-Egern. It is home to what is probably the best cook in Germany, Christian Jürgens. In 2012, this chef was elected best chef of the year.

The weather in Bayern

The weather in Bayern depends on the altitude. At the bottom of the mountain, in the valley for example, there is usually a temperate maritime climate. In the summer, temperatures can reach about 25 degrees! In the winter, there can be a good snowfall here and there, in which case the winter sports holiday can be celebrated perfectly! Climate information is no guarantee for what is to come. Always check the possible weather conditions within a certain period.
